Jhonathan Barrios is a doctoral candidate in Applied Mathematics at the University of Minho, currently holding a FCT's Research Fellowship (PhD). With a background in Physics, he earned his degree and further pursued a master's degree in Physical Sciences from the Universidad del Atlántico, Colombia. Adding to his academic achievements, Jhonathan is completing a master's degree in Statistics for Data Science at University of Minho.
His doctoral research is at the forefront of innovation, focusing on advancing mathematical and statistical methods for the analysis of complex time series data. Specifically, Jhonathan's work revolves around human gait dynamics, aiming to unravel individual gait patterns. His research contributes to enhancing neural network interpretability and optimizing performance through the application of topological data analysis.
The overarching goal of his project is to provide valuable insights into neurological diseases by utilizing the developed techniques to predict and monitor conditions through the analysis of gait data. Jhonathan Barrios combines his passion for mathematics, statistics, and interdisciplinary collaboration to contribute meaningfully to the field.
