The topological complexity (TC) is a homotopy invariant introduced by M. Farber in his topological approach to the motion planning problem. We will discuss the problem of the additivity of this invariant with respect to the product of a space with a sphere. In particular, we will give some sufficient conditions, obtained in a recent joint work with J. Calcines, under which the desired additivity holds.
