Title: From ABC to KPZ

Summary: In this talk I will introduce a particle system with two conservation laws. The dynamics is the following. At each pair of sites {x,x+1} of the one dimensional torus with N points we put a clock (exponential distributed) that when it rings the particles, that can be of type A or B or C, exchange positions with a certain rate. The exchange rate depends on the type of particles that are involved in the jump. At each site there can only be one particle (independently of its type).

We discuss both the hydrodynamic limit for this model but the goal is to look at the fluctuations around the typical profiles. I will explain how we proved a conjecture posed from mode coupling techniques which shows that when conserved quantities are placed in different moving frames, their product is asymptotically negligible. In fact our result shows that the contribution in this case is trivial and depends only on the mass of the system.

The talk is intended for non-specialists, so that everybody is welcome. I plan to explain step by step the arguments used in our proofs.

This is a joint work with three talented young colleagues: Giuseppe Cannizzaro (Warwick university, UK), Ricardo Misturini (UFRGS, Brazil), Alessandra Occelli (Angers University, France).
